The automation was built using modern freely programmable controllers for two steam boilers — DE-4 and DE-10, equipped with Cib Unigas burners.
The induced draft fans are now fitted with cabinets featuring variable frequency control and braking resistors, while the feed pumps are equipped with frequency converters.
Oleksandr Ivanko, Head of Construction and Installation Works Department at Oblteplo, comments: "This was an interesting challenge — to refit a powerful steam boiler house. We modernized the automation system, ranging from the sensors to the burners and freely programmable controllers. Instead of physically and morally obsolete gas-fuel oil burners, modern energy-efficient equipment compliant with current safety requirements was installed. The main emphasis was precisely on modernization, as we were working with 1970s-era equipment."
What the client gained as a result of the reconstruction:
Savings in gas, water, and electricity;
Precise maintenance of steam parameters — pressure and water temperature in the deaerator;
Convenient and intuitive boiler house management via the touch panels of modern controllers.
